Tactile Nuclear Penguin dethroned by a German beer that rings in at 40 percent

Somehow I missed the news that the Scottish brewery that makes Tactile Nuclear Penguin, at one time the world’s strongest beer, had been outbrewed by a German brewery. Given Fox’s propensity to report on extremes, I’m not surprised by this story about the world’s strongest beers. Prost, GG

Theater Pubs, having your beer and drinking it too

I’m heading out to see Avatar at Salem’s new CineBarre. The idea behind these movie theater pubs is not new, but I’m starting to see more and more of these popping up around the country. Missoula has the Wilma, of course, but I wouldn’t mind seeing a few other chain theaters catering to those of [...]

The Allegory of the Beer Cave

I came across this on a friend’s Facebook page today, and it turned out to be the most enjoyable read of this long Friday. And now it has become imperative for me to share Craig Klein’s Allegory of the Beer Cave with you all. May it make for a great start to a weekend of [...]

Operation Drink Better Beer

Not only is the title fitting, but the content is a must-read for craft beer drinkers like you and me. These are a good set of rules for how to get your friends to drink better beer. My favorite rule is number 5: 5) Invited to a dinner party? Bring a few 750ml corked bottles [...]

More Montana Craft Beer Bloggers

This one is written by a man named Alan, who seems like an unpretentious and likable fellow, the kind of guy I’d enjoy sitting down to a great beer with. And that’s why I’m featuring his blog here for your reading pleasure. Alan seems to be able to get around to Montana’s craft breweries on [...]

Last Best Brews, another Montana beer blog

It’s nice to see some other beer voices appearing in Montana. With more than 20 breweries, it’s hard to keep track of everything that’s going on, and new stuff is invariably missed. More voices means more people are paying attention. I especially like that the writer visited Beaver Creek Brewing Co. in Wibaux. This is [...]

The Idaho beer scene according to BeerNut

Having covered craft beer in Oregon, California and Washington and now Montana, I’m not exactly up on where Idaho is with all the changing beer laws. Turns out that they’re very similar to Montana, with some even greater challenges it seems. This is all according to Patrick Orr over at the Beer Nut, the Idaho [...]

Blogging beer from a woman’s perspective

For your daily beer reading today, I’m providing a link that some of you might already be familiar with. The Beer Babe is one of my new favorite reads. She does a lot of reviews, and I like her style a lot. Read up, bookmark her and have a great Friday. Prost, GG

A different kind of buzz with your breakfast beer

I remember drinking really high-end coffee stouts many years ago, but I thought they went by the wayside. Apparently they’re back, stronger than ever. Kona coffee stouts and Sumatra porters abound, and the perception of alcohol and caffeine as dangerous rather than bed buddies is catching the eyes and ears of the FDA, according to [...]

When Seattle comes looking for good beer in Missoula, you know you’re doing something right

Big Sky Brewing Co. is in some good company this week, as they prepare for the Matts from Brouwer’s Cafe and Bottleworks Beer Store to blend out the 11the Anniversary Ale. Here’s a list of some of the other breweries that have had the honor of participating in the annual release of the highly sought-after [...]
