When Seattle comes looking for good beer in Missoula, you know you’re doing something right
Big Sky Brewing Co. is in some good company this week, as they prepare for the Matts from Brouwer’s Cafe and Bottleworks Beer Store to blend out the 11the Anniversary Ale. Here’s a list of some of the other breweries that have had the honor of participating in the annual release of the highly sought-after Bottlworks offering.
La Conner Brewing Co. – 4th Anniversary
Ellysian Brewing Co. – 5th Anniversary
Far West Brewing Co. – 6th Anniversary
Rogue Brewing Co. Issaquah - 7th Anniversary
Flyer’s – 8th Anniversary
Russian River Brewing Co. – 9the Anniversary
I had to put this list together from many sources, so please forgive me if they’re out of order.
Every year, Bottleworks and Breuwers owner Matt Vandenberghe and manager Matt Bonney select a well-known craft brewery to work with to produce an anniversary edition that will feature a co-branded Bottleworks label with the brewery. The Matts are famous for their love of Belgian sours and wood-aged beers, so it will be exciting to see exactly what they end up doing with Big Sky Brewing Co. If I had to bet, I’d say it’s going to be a stout of some kind, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the guys made up some crazy concoction never seen before. That’s the fun in all of this.
Know this though, participating in a Bottleworks Anniversary blend is a big deal for Big Sky Brewing Co., Missoula and Montana. In a way, it legitimizes something that we’ve all known for a long time. That world-class beers are brewed in this state all the time, and it’s about time the world stood up and took notice.
Prost,
GG
