Ivan the Terrible is on the loose
Big Sky Brewing Co.’ s Ivan the Terrible Imperial Stout is in bottles and on the lose at your favorite beer stores like Worden’s Market and Big Sky’s taproom.
I don’t know what it is with memorable Russian heads of state and other famous politicos, but I tend to like beers named after them. Until moving to Missoula, my favorite dark dictator was Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout from North Coast Brewing Co.
The fact that Ivan is aged in bourbon barrels eventually won me over, and I look forward to stocking my fridge with a case of the old Russian terror soon.
I have to tell you that one of my favorite things to do with Ivan the Terrible is to get some fine, fine handmade vanilla-bean ice cream and place two scoops in a pint glass and pour the Ivan over the top. This beer float might be the best dessert since some French guy screwed up a pancake, poured lemon, butter and powdered sugar all over it and called it a crepe.
It’s seriously that good.
Prost,
GG
