Where to find Big Sky Kriek, fresh-hop beer and pumpkin ales

Let’s call this a cleanup post.

You can get Big Sky Brewing Co.’s wine-barrel-aged Kriek at Worden’s Market for sure. However, I bought bottles 177 and 178 of 180 last night, so you had better can on it.

The Kettlehouse Brewing Co. has fresh-hop ale on at the Myrtle Street location, as well as a bunch of interesting beers Paul and the crew have been brewing up now that the Northside has taken over production of the big three – Cold Smoke, Double Haul and Eddy Out.

Also, Kettlehouse owner, Tim O’Leary, informed me that they are indeed going to be serving up their pumpkin ale flavored with spices, local pumpkins and freshly grated ginger, as early as this Friday. So, if pumpkin ales are your thing, head on over to the K-Hole and say hi to Al Pils for me.

And Bill Hyland, of Bozeman Brewing Co., had this to say:

Definitely Gem! I have been a fan of pumpkin beer for a long time now. Growing up on the east coast, I was able to enjoy this style every Fall. Now I am able to brew one every Fall at Bozeman Brewing Company. We use 240 pounds of organic pumpkin in our mash and kettle for a substantial pumpkin flavor to back up the wonderful aromatics from our late kettle spice additions. I just brewed this one yesterday so look for it in our tasting room in a few weeks.

Prost,

GG

Just picked up number 123 at Worden’s tonight, they had 4 others in the cooler behind it. I only bought the one because I’m wary of cherry beers due to childhood cough syrup memories. I will definitely be going back for another, the cherries are very subdued, and the alcohol bite is very minimal for a beer this big – I was expecting a combination of the Smoov Cherry Ale and a Belgian tripel, but this is neither. Very smooth, very drinkable, so long bottle 123!
