Montana gets two new breweries

At the rate new breweries are going in around here, Montana’s on track to catch up to California in, oh, say 2070, provided, of course, that California drops into the sea and they don’t figure out how to build underwater breweries.

In all seriousness, Montana is adding to its beer-culture status at a good, steady rate.

Two new breweries opened this past summer, and though I haven’t been in to try their beer, I wanted to make you all aware of their presence.

Butte’s Quarry Brewery opened Sept. 29 and promises beers brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot. The beers are Headframe Hefe, Open Cab Copper and Open Pit Porter.

Read more about it here.

Tamarack Ale House and Grill, in Lakeside, opened in July, and I haven’t been able to find out what beers are on tap right now, but the website says they have an amber that should be on tap in mid-October and a Kolsch, called Bear Bottom Blonde, on for November.

Read more about it here.

So here’s to new breweries and Montana’s ascension to that coveted status as a craft brewing state. We’ll soon be as high and mighty as New England, the Pacific Northwest and Colorado. And, if California does fall into the sea, we’ll be a lot closer to the beach.

Prost,

GG
